Cancer Centers
Healthcare System
Croatia has a mandatory health insurance system, with the Croatian Health Insurance Fund (CHIF) being its sole insurer and main purchaser. Additional, voluntary health insurance can be purchased individually from the CHIF or private insurers to cover co-payments for services in the benefit package, with over 60% of the population opting for this additional insurance. The main regulatory body of the Croatian health system is the Ministry of Health.
The National Public Health Information System of the Croatian Institute of Public Health (CIPH) collects data for various registries, including a cancer registry. The Central Health Information System, on the other hand, is managed by CHIF and is used to share standardized health data to support delivery of primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare. [1]
